Welcome!

I recently established this service to help people meet their private and home office IT advice and support needs.

Service Information

I hope to provide Personal Users with valuable advice and insight into their IT equipment and software. I aim to provide decent support to help you determine what PC equipment and devices you need, when taking into account your situation and budget. I am happy to assist you with purchasing and if you like I can even arrange for the equipment to be delivered. While I don’t offer custom PCs, I can arrange one or more to be built to your needs using my favourite supplier. In this case, I aim to have everything you need delivered to your home. Everything should be plug and play with minimal interaction. (Though generally, you may need to perform some basic installation of software or restore your files. If you feel you can’t do this yourself I can help to recommend a dedicated technician to help). Most Personal Users can assemble things themselves. For the most part they are simpler than Ikea furniture!

You are of course welcome to make use of my advice to order your equipment for yourself. My supplier has a retail presence in the Brisbane area and can complement any advice you receive regarding the best hardware for your needs.

Interested in finding out more? Get in touch with me via the contact form and I'll get back to you! You can also send your message to me@davidcwebster.com using your email program, phone app or website.

About Me

I started performing PC work on a casual part-time basis from 1991. Throughout the nineties I continued to hone my self-taught PC skills by providing support to about 10 to 12 regular clients amongst others, with nearly all clients getting in contact with me by word of mouth. In 1995 to 1997 I attended the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, where much of the formal basis for my PC troubleshooting skills were realised. As is the case with a lot of IT enthusiasts, a lot of the actual troubleshooting of PCs was learnt outside of university in tandem with the course. In addition to the casual work, I worked for a major hospital in IT/Information management roles. I do not work full-time but rather operate on a largely part time basis.

My other great passion was Tennis Umpiring. I worked as a professional umpire between 1990 and the year 2000. I worked most notably at the Australian Open in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. I also officiated at the 1999 Davis Cup Tie between Australia and Russia. After ten years I retired from Tennis officiating. Now I can devote a bit more time to my IT work and stand ready to help people with their IT issues. Given my over 25 years of experience I hope that you will be confident that I can handle your IT issues with due care and skill.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, but I only aim to respond to messages. As this is a free service, I do not have the resources for real-time reception. I plan to respond to calls and emails within 4 hours if received before 1pm. If not you will be contacted by the next morning.

Free! But I do ask for a small donation if you are satisfied.

Yes, but I need payment in advance and use my favourite supplier as a rule of thumb.

The easiest way is if you provide me with your credit card to pay the supplier in your name on your behalf. I accept direct deposit, but you must wait for that to clear. You are of course welcome to place your own order with my guidance. Please ask me for more information if you would like to know more.
